CODA – FREE CONCERT

CODA is a new local musical group formed by six musicians that enjoy opportunities to share their love of light rock and jazz with listeners in a variety of venues. Whether the space is as small as an intimate wine bar or as large as a multi-band concert, CODA seeks to entertain with a wide variety of material that appeals to all tastes and ages.
 
Don Conrad (vocals), Cory Dover (bass), Bryant Bolin (keys), Gary Covitz (percussion), Les Davis (guitar), and Phil Lyew (saxophone) make up this group, having played together in the past with a number of other bands, and thoroughly enjoying this new collective musical project.

Winthrop University Choir | Get Single Event Ticket

The Winthrop University Choir is under the direction of Dr. Jeremy Mims. This is an excellent choir in which to explore choral music. Dr. Jeremy Mims is Assistant Professor of Music at Winthrop University, where he is the Director of Choral Activities. He conducts the Chorale, Chamber Singers, and Collegiate Choir, as well as teaches conducting to undergraduate and graduate students. Previously he was the chair of the music department at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa, where conducted the choirs and string orchestra. He has held numerous positions with community choirs and orchestras and with various churches. His ensembles have performed for various conventions and he is a frequent clinician for area honor choir.

Noel Freidline Quartet and Maria Howell | Get Single Event Ticket

Noel Freidline
As the leader of the Noel Freidline Quintet for the last 26 years, Freidline has recorded 8 CDs, performed at jazz festivals as diverse as the Jacksonville, Florida Jazz Festival to the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Musikfest to the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, held down a three-year house band position at the Bellagio in Las Vegas and performed for actress Julia Roberts’ surprise 35th birthday party. Noel has been a Lecturer in Music at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte since 2006, teaching such diverse subjects as music business, the history of rock music, jazz arranging, music theory and ear training, and directing the UNCC jazz combo’s and vocal jazz ensemble.

Maria Howell 
Mere words can only capture the refrain of Maria Howell’s awesome talent. She is the ballad of beauty and elegance. The melodies flowing from the petite vocalist are truly amazing. While casting a spellbinding smile, she mesmerizes her captive audience with incredible harmonies and rhythms. A SONG STYLIST in her own right, Maria has shared the musical stage with such legendary artists as Nancy Wilson, George Benson, Ray Charles, Earl Klugh, and Ronnie Laws. After a very successful 6 year stint in Asia, Maria relocated back to the U.S. and performed at Sambuca Jazz Café for 9 consecutive years. She and pianist Bill Wilson, son of legendary jazz pianist, Teddy Wilson, held the distinction of being the longest running act at the Atlanta, Georgia location. Maria hosts her own live music series, which originated in Hollywood, California, called #DUETS, featuring artists performing “Songs to soothe your soul.”

Location: All concerts will be held in the First Assembly Church, 777 S. Myrtle School Rd., Gastonia, NC and will begin at 7:30 pm. Doors will open at 7:00 pm. (dates and times subject to change). 


Season membership ticket prices (admission to all concert season shows) are as follows:

  • Individual $60.00
  • Patron $200.00 / 4 tickets 
  • Donor $350.00 / 8 tickets 
  • Sponsor $600.00 / 12 tickets
  • Benefactor $1,000.00 / 20 tickets
  • College Students $25.00

Children through 12th grade, accompanied by an adult member, will be admitted free.
